World's Biggest Gold Coin

The Royal Canadian Mint(RCM) unveiled the biggest gold coin in the world On May 3, 2007. The coin, which weighs 220.5 pounds(100 kgs) has a diameter of 21 inches (53 centimeters) and over 1.2 inches(3 cms) thick making it the largest of its kind. The coin is worth 1 million Canadian dollars(U.S. $903,000). Made with pure gold, it also has an immense hand crafting. The coin was originally designed to increase the international profile of RCM . But later was showcased to promote the RCM's new line of 99.999 percent pure, one-ounce gold maple leaf bullion coins. The coin is made only by order and has received 5 orders till date.
