Earlier, Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat. They didn't have a great start and lost few wickets. But Chigumbura (76 runs) and Ervine (39 runs) maintained a good partnership and managed to put on a decent score of 173 for the loss of 7 wickets. Australia’s pace bowler Mitchell Johnson took 4 wickets.
David Warner gave exactly the start Australia needed. He along with Michael Clarke put on 80 run partnership for the second wicket. But after the dismissal of Warner (72 runs) Zimbabwe bowlers started tightening the overs. Australians were in need of 13 runs in the final over. But the dismissal of Clarke confirmed Zimbabwe’s victory. In the end, Australia lost by a mere 1 run.
