Indian master batsmen Sachin Tendulkar and the hero of 1st test match against VVS Laxman have moved up in the latest ICC Test rankings after their superb performances in the recently concluded Mohali Test match against Australia in which India tasted a thrilling victory by one wicket.
Sachin Tendulkar climbed to third place with 838 points. This is his highest ranking since the Hamilton Test against the formidable New Zealand in December 2002. Tendulkar also created another world record by scoring 1000+ runs for the sixth time in a calender year. He has scored 1003 Test runs in 2010 at an average of 83.
The duo excelled in India's most thrilling win against Australia in the first Test. Laxman had a successful run-chase in the fourth innings with an unbeaten 73. His bonding partnership with Ishant Sharma who scored 31 gave victory for India. Sachin Tendulkar who missed another century by 2 runs top-scored india's the first innings and then contributed 38 in the second.
India's hard hitting batsmen Virender Sehwag is in second place with 851 points. Sri Lanka skipper, Kumar Sangakkara, tops the rankings with 874 points. VVS Laxman moved up four places to a career-best of no.8. Another hero who starred in India's victory is Zaheer Khan moved up to his career-best fifth position. Thanks to his match haul of 8 for 137 which earned him the Man of the Match award at Mohali.
