Wayne Rooney to join either Manchester City or Chelsea

After days of gossip, rumors and whispers, the prodigal English striker Wayne Rooney is thought to have told Manchester United manager SIR Alex Ferguson that he does not wish to sign a new deal with the club.

Rooney's relationship with Scottish manager has not been good in recent times, when the latter came up with comments concerning Rooney's ankle injury. This grew bitter when he was benched during the Man U's 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion. This was supposed to be the reason behind Rooney's decision to leave Old Trafford. And the Manchester United boss finally made it clear at a press conference on Tuesday by confirming that the forward is looking to leave the Red Devils.

With Rooney's exit two years before his contract lapse date with Man U, football club giants are getting ready to bid for the star striker. Both the Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are ready to offer £25 million to pull Rooney to their side. But there has also been some speculation that he might make a shock move to bitter rivals Manchester City or even Chelsea. Manchester City is ready to welcome Rooney with a red carpet and a weekly salary of £250,000 worth £60million over 5 years starting January, 2011.
